Terms of Use

The rules for using Chomp. You must be at least 13, and if you're under 18 a parent or guardian has to agree to these Terms too. Chomp has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. AI-made study material can be wrong, so check it against your class notes. Paid plans are billed by Apple and renew until you cancel.

These Terms are an agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and FILL_IN (legal name of the person or company that runs Chomp), FILL_IN ("an individual", or e.g. "a limited liability company organized in [state]") ("we", "us" or "our"), the operator of the Chomp app and its related websites and services (together, "Chomp").

By creating an account or otherwise using Chomp, you agree to these Terms and to our Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms, and you acknowledge our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree, don't use Chomp.

If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review these Terms with you and agree to them on your behalf. A parent or guardian who lets a teen use Chomp is responsible for that use.

Who can use Chomp

Your account

You can sign up with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Give accurate information, keep your sign-in details private, and don't share your account or use anyone else's. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

Your display name and handle must follow the Community Guidelines. We may change or remove a name or handle that doesn't.

Tell us right away at hello@feedchomp.com if you think someone else has used your account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account → Delete account. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and when.

What Chomp does, and what AI can't promise

Chomp turns class material you add (photos, files, Google Drive documents and pasted notes) into study packs with summaries, key terms, study guides, flashcards, quizzes and practice questions. It also has a focus timer, streaks and rewards, and study races with friends you add.

Study packs are written by artificial intelligence from Anthropic, PBC. We send your material to it only after you allow AI processing, and you can turn that off in Account → AI processing.

AI makes mistakes. Summaries, answers, explanations and "predicted test questions" can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not a promise of what will be on any test. Always check study packs against your class notes, textbook and teacher. Chomp is a study aid. It is not tutoring, professional advice, or a substitute for your school.

Follow your school's academic-honesty rules. Use Chomp to study. Don't hand in AI-made material as your own work where that isn't allowed, and don't use Chomp during a test unless your teacher says you can.

We may add, change or remove features. Some features are only available on paid plans.

Your content

"Your content" means what you add to or create in Chomp: the material you upload or paste, the study packs made from it, your classes, exam names, display name and handle, and the reports and messages you send us.

You keep ownership of your content. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, adapt and display it only as needed to run Chomp for you, for example to send material to our AI provider to make your study pack, to sync it across your devices, and to show your display name, handle and shared exam names to the people you choose to study with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that expire on a rolling schedule and anything we must keep to comply with the law or to handle a safety report.

Only add material you have the right to use. Handouts, slides and textbook pages usually belong to someone else, like your teacher, your school or a publisher. Use them for your own studying, and don't upload anything you aren't allowed to copy.

Don't put sensitive personal information in the material you add, such as health details, government ID numbers, passwords, or other people's private information.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

Community rules: zero tolerance

Chomp has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. If you post objectionable content, or abuse, threaten or harass anyone, we will remove the content and may suspend or permanently remove your account, without warning.

When you use Chomp, you agree not to:

The Community Guidelines explain these rules in more detail.

Reporting, blocking and enforcement

You can report or block another student from your Squad: tap the ••• button next to their name or friend request. Blocking removes them from your squad and from each other's races, and stops them from seeing your profile or sending you requests. You can also report anything by emailing hello@feedchomp.com.

We review reports within 24 hours. When content breaks these Terms or the Community Guidelines, we remove it and act against the account that posted it by resetting a name or handle, suspending the account, or permanently removing the person from Chomp. Names, handles and exam names are also checked automatically for words that aren't allowed, but no filter catches everything, so please report what gets through.

We may also remove content, or suspend or end an account, when we reasonably believe it's needed to protect students, other people or Chomp, or to comply with the law. Where the law requires, we report content to the authorities, including reporting apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

If you think we got a decision wrong, email hello@feedchomp.com and we'll review it.

Free plan, free trial and subscriptions

Chomp has a Free plan and optional paid plans. What each plan includes, and its price, is shown in the app before you buy.

Free trial: new accounts can try Pro features free for 7 days. The trial doesn't ask for payment details and doesn't turn into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, your account moves to the Free plan unless you choose to buy a plan. Each account gets one free trial.

Subscriptions: paid plans are auto-renewable subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly through Apple's App Store.

Refunds: Apple handles payments and refunds under its own terms. To ask Apple for a refund, go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

Rewards: crumbs, streaks, medals, levels and avatar items are earned by studying in Chomp. They have no cash value, can't be purchased with money, sold, transferred or exchanged for anything outside Chomp, and may be changed or reset.

Chomp's intellectual property

Chomp, including its software, design, text, graphics, characters, and the Chomp name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. As long as you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Chomp for your own non-commercial studying. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of Chomp except as these Terms allow.

Class names in Chomp can include trademarks that belong to others. AP® is a trademark registered by the College Board, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, Chomp. Chomp is not affiliated with or endorsed by any school, teacher or test maker, or by Apple, Google or Anthropic.

If you got Chomp from Apple's App Store

If you downloaded Chomp from Apple's App Store, these terms also apply. Where they conflict with anything else in these Terms, these terms win.

Other companies' services

Chomp relies on services from other companies, including Apple (Sign in with Apple and the App Store), Google (Google sign-in and Google Drive), Supabase, Inc. (accounts and data storage) and Anthropic, PBC (AI processing). When you use Sign in with Apple, Google sign-in or Google Drive, those companies' own terms and privacy policies also apply. We aren't responsible for other companies' services or content.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is material, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Chomp after it takes effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you don't agree, stop using Chomp and delete your account.

We may also change, pause or stop Chomp or any feature. If we shut Chomp down, we'll give you reasonable notice first where we can.

Ending your use of Chomp

You can stop using Chomp at any time and delete your account under Account → Delete account.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if the law requires it, or if your use creates risk for other students or for us. Parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your access ends (including the disclaimers, the limits on liability and the terms about disputes) continue.

Disclaimers

Chomp is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Chomp will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that study packs will be accurate or complete, or that using Chomp will improve your grades.

Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, grades, opportunities or profits, arising from or related to Chomp or these Terms. Our total liability for all claims related to Chomp is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Chomp in the 12 months before the claim or (b) US $50.

These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, including to liability for fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Claims caused by your actions

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and compensate us for claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by others that arise from your content or from your breaking these Terms or the law. This doesn't cover claims caused by our own wrongdoing.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of FILL_IN (US state or territory whose law governs the Terms), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where the consumer protection laws of the place you live give you rights that can't be waived.

If you have a problem with Chomp, contact us first at hello@feedchomp.com. Most problems can be sorted out that way. If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in FILL_IN (county and state or territory where disputes are heard), unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe material in Chomp infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@feedchomp.com, or by mail to FILL_IN (legal name of the person or company that runs Chomp), FILL_IN (mailing address: street, city, state, ZIP), that includes:

We may remove the material and, in appropriate circumstances, end the accounts of repeat infringers.

General

These Terms, including the Community Guidelines, are the whole agreement between you and us about Chomp. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce part of these Terms right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with your information protected as the Privacy Policy describes. These Terms don't create a partnership, employment or agency relationship.
